Digital Earth Medal

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

On 10th September, Nextspace’s Richard Simpson was honoured (in absence) with a special medal presented by Professor Lu Yongxiang, Chair of the International Society for the Digital Earth (ISDE) in Beijing, China. The ISDE medal recognises significant contribution to Digital Earth over the past 5 years including the inaugural Digital Earth Summit.

The Digital Earth vision incorporates a digitally-formatted Earth, a functionally interfacing metaphor, whereby a corresponding virtual body of knowledge of the real Earth and its digital representation for understanding the Earth and relevant phenomena is accessible to all citizens of the planet via the internet.
