Nextspace can assist researchers and developers to evaluate how to best apply 3D visualisation in their field and use it to solve complex problems.
At heart Nextspace is an R&D and services organisation, and is always looking for opportunities to work with fellow researchers to help bring ideas to life. Nextspace’s team has collaborated with universities, Crown Research Institutes and commercial entities on various research projects including interactive design, tourism, medical visualisation, interactive advertising displays, and Geospatial and Geographic Information Systems.
Our researchers and developers are used to a multi-disciplinary approach, where Nextspace provides the 3D technology platform for researchers to build their studies, experiments and simulations on without technical distractions.
As a research partner, Nextspace can:
- Provide world-leading Right Hemisphere technoloy as a platform to manage 3D assets and build research projects on. This will simplify the creation, modification and management of 3D models, provide collaboration tools and integrate with other systems to control and evaluate the research.
- Provide academic expertise into the usability and human factors of 3D visualisation as well as technical skills
- Involve Nextspace’s commercial partners to ensure industry application or potential commercialisation of the research
- Act as a full research partner or as a sub-contracted supplier
- Connect you to other researchers and technical experts in specialised areas of 3D, visualisation, usability, design and computer science
- Convert 3D models from original engineering and CAD data to provide accurate simulations not approximations.
Nextspace and our Innovation Centre have a range of research tools available: - Hosted Right Hemisphere ‘Deep Server’ environment to manage 3D assets and make them available online to research participants.
- Large stereoscopic display screen which does not require glasses to view a 3D effect (autostereo)
- Motion tracking facilities
- Portable 3D sound system
- Multiple displays for an immersive viewing experience
- Integrated high definition video conferencing
- High speed internet access
Nextspace also undertakes it own research, with varied interests including: - Virtual, Mixed and Augmented reality tools
- Applications of interactive 3D in training and education
- The integration of 3D digital tools with other technologies for particular user groups. For example, medical, scientific publication, building and construction, and marketing.
- Stereoscopic vision, both with and without use of 3D glasses
- Usability, ergonomics and human machine interaction
- Access to 3D assets and interactive 3D on mobile phones and portable devices
- Collaboration tools
- Improving processes and design
- Converting and sharing between various file data formats including not only 3D, but also GIS, medical, video, sound, ordinary documents, etc.
