The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is a New Zealand Government agency formed in 2012 to support business growth and economic prosperity by developing key strategies and services.
During the lifecycle of a building, the design, build, operation and maintenance phases are often completed in isolation. This can lead to disjointed communication, delays, and higher costs. Finding a way to improve collaboration was identified as the key to creating more resilient and cost effective buildings in New Zealand.
GeoBuild identified three key technical aspirations: national online consenting, spatial data infrastructure (SDI), and Building Information Modelling (BIM). To illustrate benefits to the New Zealand building industry we partnered with MBIE and developed prototype applications that focussed on these three technologies.
Our prototypes have been presented by MBIE at conferences and in planning sessions around New Zealand and Australia. They have been used to inform audiences from the general public to policy makers of the great potential available.
